Iranian singer Marzieh is a living legend. After many years of intensive musical training, she went public in 1942 and was immediately received with open arms. Blessed with a warm mezzo-soprano voice, a wonderful technique and a great sense of expression, many composers, lyricists and poets considered it a great honor to write for her. Marzieh sang more than thousands of songs until she was silenced
… in 1979 by the oppressive Islamic regime. Women are prohibited from singing in public. Fifteen years later, Marzieh fled to France, joined the Iranian resistance movement, and resumed her singing career. Her performances are always dedicated to the struggle for peace and freedom in Iran. The kidnapping of Marzieh's daughter by the regime in an attempt to stop her actually backfired, strengthening her decision to continue to fight for the rights of the oppressed people in Iran. Marzieh is really tireless: at the time of the release of the album "Va délé man" she is seventy-five years old, and the voice of the Grande Dame remains equally impressive. The album shows in words and music the richness of traditional and contemporary Iranian culture. The CD booklet contains detailed explanations per song.
