The Wagram Music label has released a double CD with choral music from all continents of the world. The first CD contains choral songs from European countries such as Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, Italy, Spain and Portugal. The second CD is devoted to songs from non-western countries, such as Cuba, Argentina, Haiti, Senegal, South Africa, India and Pakistan. In all cultures, the voice is used to express
… emotions. Music can be part of everyday life (such as in comfort songs and lullabies) but also distance from it (as in the search for the unknown and the divine). Choral music is used in group matters such as rituals, parties and war. This diverse single and polyphonic choral music is further explained in the French textbook, that also goes into great detail about the cultural background of the performers. All this is framed by a beautiful layout and beautiful color photos. (SvdP) _more
