Heimlich was recorded at home, as the title suggests. The 17 Hippies have their home in Prenzlauer Berg, a cosmopolitan Berlin neighborhood. The founders of 17 Hippies wanted to play traditional music from Eastern Europe, France and the United States, but it certainly should not become a slavish imitation. You also had to hear the metropolitan Berlin in the music. The band has certainly succeeded
… in that setup. Heimlich swings the listener from gypsy music to French sixties pop and from there back to bluegrass and cajun. The great thing is that the band knows how to manipulate these diverse genres, so that every song sounds like 17 Hippies again. An excellent album and therefore highly recommended. (PdK)more
