Since 1998 the Canadian twin sisters Nadia and Annie Labrie have been a duo, with four albums released on the Analekta label. Classical Guitar Uk even called them the 'world's best flute and guitar duo'. Nadia Labrie also has a solo career in which she regularly plays Mozart. … flute. Mozart's flute quartets were wholly or partly intended for Ferdinand Dejean (1731-1797). This amateur musician had been working in Batavia as a surgeon for the Dutch East India Company. Mozart actually thought he was an oddball. Also the genre of the flute quartet (flute with violin, viola and cello) did not appeal to Mozart. The music did not suffer as a result.
