Olga Peretyatko is a rising star among opera enthusiasts in CD and DVD land. In 2011 her first recital CD was released with Sony, La Bellezza del Canto, and in 2012 she sang alongside star tenor Juan Diego Flórez in a DVD by Matilde di Shabran. On this DVD opera fans could not only admire her voice and technique, but also her excellent stage qualities. In addition, Peretyatko has her appearance.
The static glamor photos on this album don't really do her justice. She has a lot more charm live on stage. Peretyatko is a coloratura soprano with a voice like a bell. It has something of a soubrette and Adeles aria from Die Fledermaus is a highlight on this CD. In addition, the album contains songs that were in the repertoire of Victorian nightingales such as Adelina Patti. The program starts with music sung by Aloysia Weber, a singer to whom Mozart pledged his heart. (CP)more
