A common thread in the story is the letter requesting whether the duo will perform in Australia for Dutch immigrants. This produces socially critical anecdotes about the Netherlands of the past and present, alternated with well-dosed corny imitation arts. Van Vleuten sings two beautiful songs, including one about a letter from painter Vincent van Gogh to his brother Theo. This song ultimately forms a bridge to Van Muiswinkel's poignant account of the murder of Theo van Gogh. Masterful. (SvdP)more
