In September 2008, English jazz DJ Gilles Peterson was invited to visit Havana to take stock of the state of the art in local music. Now, the English are not by nature the most colored people on the planet, but Peterson managed to come back from sun-drenched Cuba paler than he went there. … from the Cuban musical treasure chest. In addition, he immediately took the opportunity to form the Havana Cultura Band with local musicians, a band that re-performed a selection of Peterson's favorite floor fillers. The second CD of this double is entirely devoted to Peterson ' s quest for the contemporary Cuban sound and shows that this tropical island has more than just rumba, son, reggaeton and the Buena Vista Social Club.
