Richard Dorfmeister once formed half of the Kruder & Dorfmeister duo that stood at the cradle of the lounge. In fact, their influence was so great that they almost invented the genre. However, Lounge is no longer possible at all and has been relegated to the speakers that service passengers in elevators during their short journey. Dorfmeister now works in Tosca together with Rupert Huber.
According to the makers, Odeon can be seen as a reflection of gray Vienna, gray and dull at first sight, but if you study the city more closely, the bright spots will automatically emerge. That's what Odeon sounds like. As if you are not only walking through a city where boredom plays a major role, but you are also terribly burdened by a crisis. The bright spots are carefully hidden. It sounds like Odeon's Vienna will never recover and is painted with a pathetically restrained bombast in minor sounds. Once upon a time, lounge was the soundtrack to the good life paired with bubbles, oysters and supremely comfortable furniture with thick plush cushions. Today people have to make do with a little less. In that respect, Odeon is an excellent time document. (AD)more
