Ambienthouse pioneers The Orb and guitarist and singer were brought together by producer Youth (Martin Glover). One song was intended, but when the company started to jam, the gate was off the dam. Not surprising because The Orb and Gilmour seem made for each other and together they sound exactly as you would expect. Mother Earth is left with organically whirring and pulsating electronics, interspersed
… with deep reverberating, bluesy guitar licks and wide-ranging minor chords. It is a pity that the two long pieces are composed of fragments and that a blissful trance doesn't really strike anywhere. Pink Floyd's drawn-out space rock has of course always had an important influence on techno and so this first real collaboration never surprises. It sounds pleasant. (MR)more
