Cumbia, the tropical dance music from Colombia, has been on the rise in recent years. This is partly due to the enthusiastic missionary work of Will 'Quantic' Holland, an English musician who has lived in Colombia for a number of years. For this album he treated himself to a collaboration with Colombia's top musicians. Although, treat… Holland had to work hard for it. In the evening he wrote the
… material together with multi-instrumentalist Mario Galeano, which was then recorded by 42 (!) different musicians during the day. These are both protagonists from the first golden period of the cumbia (the sixties / seventies) and contemporary talent. The album sounds great, according to Holland because they recorded the CD in the Discos Fuentes Studio, according to him 'the Abbey Road of Colombia'. The compositions are varied and the covers (including Iron Man from Black Sabbath) are surprising. Thanks to the top cast of guest musicians (including the virtuoso accordionist Anibal 'El Magico' Velazquez), this CD is the best tropical surprise in the summer of 2012. (PdK)more
