With the death of Acoustic Alchemy's co-founder and partner Nick Webb, it was not easy for Greg Carmichel to continue. He eventually turned the loss into a collaboration with a dozen writers and musicians. The music style has not changed, so smooth jazz in format. On the opening track The Angel Of The South, for example, we hear Miles Gilderdale's dark guitar playing over a samba bass groove by
… Frank Felix. Good news is also the renewed collaboration with guitarist John Parsons. Because the band members got more freedom this time, the music has definitely gained momentum and the album has become wider instrumentally. The CD closes with a fun experiment to record the two tracks Big Sky Country and Trail Blazer recorded in England in Nashville. Especially the addition of Jerry Douglas' dobro, Sam Bush's violin and Pat Burgeson's harmonica give the songs a country touch. They were included on the CD as a welcome bonus. (RM)more
