Trombonist Louk Boudestijn and trumpeter Rob van de Wouw, the B and W from the B&W Quintet, have performed together on stage many times, from the early nineties when they got to know each other at the Tilburg Conservatory. Once they moved to Rotterdam, they founded the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra there and did not leave their musical presence in the Maasstad untouched. It's About Time, the B&W
… Quintet's debut, was a tribute to their heroes including Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, Kenny Dorham and Lee Morgan. For Force Of Habits, the gut feeling that dominated their icons' music had to be linked to the diversity of styles they had played in recent years, including modern jazz, gospel, funk, free-form and soulful melodies. With Arno Krijger on Hammond organ, bassist Stefan Lievestro and drummer Martijn Vink they could count on top accompaniment. Force Of Habits shows Boudestijn and Van de Wouw not only as gifted wind players, but also as particularly adventurous composers, who creatively combine various styles into one impressive sound.
