Jon Madof is not related to Bernard Madoff (because he has an extra f in his last name), but in terms of creativity and guts, the Rashanim frontman could easily have been related to Bernie. Jon doesn't use his talent for fraudulent practices, but to compose music that is as beautiful as it is original. He describes Rashanim, one of his many musical projects, as a 'Jewish power trio'. Apparently,
… that is the meaning of their instrumental mix of klezmer, jazz, flamenco and rock. At one moment the trio conjures up images of a busy New York street, but the next moment seems to take you back to exotic places in days long gone. The album was recorded within one day and therefore has a nice relaxed atmosphere. That everything does not get bogged down in endless jams, but maintains a strong focus, seems another proof of the craftsmanship of Madof and his men. (PdK)more
