The Sound Prints quintet seems to have been set up mainly by its prominent members to lose themselves in solid straightforward jazz. Saxophonist Joe Lovano and trumpet player Dave Douglas, but also drummer Joey Baron may have met in the New York avant-garde scene around . They also like to broaden the jazz pattern individually, towards rock, world music, modern composed music and avant-garde.
Scandal, Sound Prints' first studio album, has no such musical pretensions. Above all, fun is being made and with these virtuosos in a band this also effortlessly transfers to the listener.
