The Swedish Viktoria makes pop jazz rather than traditional jazz. Her slightly panting, translucent voice and photogenic appearance have made her a star in her homeland. All twelve songs come from Esbjorn Svensson, who is also known in jazz circles with his own trio. The music can be compared to the light atmosphere that Jamie Cullum or Norah Jones bring. Nice piano songs with few real highlights.
The Belgian harmonica virtuoso Toots Thielemans has a guest role in the song No Regrets. Producer Nils Landgren (also heard on trombone) has put down an extremely atmospheric record that is best consumed with a glass of red wine in dim light. (JdD)more
