In the Netherlands we only know Chumbawamba from the fun pop single "Tubthumping", with which the English band had a hit in 1997. While there were no other songs of that level on the CD "Tubthumper", from which that song originated, there is no such catchy hit on the successor "WYSIWYG" either. The band tries, with 'one-liners' bombarded to chorus like "(Gues what) I'm with stupid" and "She's got
… all the friends (that money can buy)", but remains mostly stuck in predictability and corniness. "WYSIWYG" is a CD with a bit of everything: a few dance beats, a bit of ska, a hint of country and some sixties influences, but despite all the nice attempts at parody it is a disappointing, boring mainstream pop album.
