From its self-titled debut in 1994, the Dutch-language rock band Van Dik Hout has been showered with incentive prizes, awards and other tokens of appreciation by the record industry. The group, with endearing frontman Martin Buitenhuis, has also managed to attract a loyal fan base over the years. No less than 50,000 copies of the second album Vier Weken were sold and the boys played in all clubs
… and major festivals. In 1999 a semi-acoustic theater tour followed and the band worked together with Acda & de Munnik in the occasional band De Poema's. Van Dik Hout also wrote the title song Dromendief for the movie Rent-A-Friend by Eddy Terstall. Het Beste Van 1994-2001 looks back on the successful years with all singles and a nice bonus CD with live recordings. All hits from their four albums are on it: Be still in me, all or nothing, let it go, the choices you make and everything once. (BP)more
