Tyrese is a Los Angeles r & b crooner. He started his career at the age of 14 through local talent shows and broke through in 1998 after appearing in a Coca Cola commercial. In the same year, he released his debut Tyrese, which won an American Music Award and a Grammy nomination. The good-looking singer was also seen on TV in the sitcom Moesha (with singer Brandy) and did various modeling work
… for magazines. 2000 Watts, named after the Watts district where Tyrese grew up, contains Blacksteet-esque R&B and is produced by the greats Babyface and Jermaine Dupri. The album does not contain a stereotypical sugar-sweet panting but is influenced by hip-hop, pop and 70's soul, which makes the album sound less syrupy than that of many other men in the R&B. Apart from the obligatory ballad (I'm Sorry) and another lost love song, 2000 Watts is a pleasant album that keeps the swing in good order. (BP)more
