Babyface was born Kenneth Edmonds in the American city of Indianapolis in 1959. Together with his friend Antonio 'LA' Reid, he formed the successful producer duo LA & Baby face. In the 80s and 90s they worked with almost all major R&B artists: Toni Braxton, Usher, Bobby Brown, Mary J. Blige, Tyrese, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Unlike 'LA' Reid, who preferred to stay in the background,
… Babyface also wanted to try out as a performing artist. In 1989 he recorded the album Tender Lover under his own name. It was a beautiful album on which he proved to be a great singer. This was followed by two more albums, consolidating his status as one of the best male R&B singers. In 1997, a spectacular MTV Unplugged album followed, on which he sang the song How Come How Long with his idol Stevie Wonder. In the following years, however, it became quiet around the singer Babyface (probably the producer Babyface had enough work). But now, in the fall of 2001, a new Babyface album suddenly appears: Face 2 Face. It contains fourteen songs that belong to the very best of what has been released on R&B this year. Babyface has tight control and also plays the majority of the instruments (guitar, bass, drums and keyboard). There are nice contributions from The Neptunes (NERD) and rapper Snoop Dogg, but actually Babyface can do it alone. As he proves on my favorite album track How Can You Be Down, on which he takes care of both the lead and the beautiful backing vocals. Face 2 Face is a great R & B-record by a fantastic singer. And Antonio "LA" Reid was appointed executive producer. That's what I call friendship! (MvP) _more
