The Rotterdam Amazing Stroopwafels have been around for over twenty years. They make nice songs with funny lyrics that have always scored well with the music compilers of Radio 1 and Radio 2. They have never had a real hit, although the song Oude Maasweg from 1982 is still played very regularly. After they released a kind of 'best of' in 2000, Eeuwige Vlam is their first new album since 1998. On it
… we find twelve cozy songs with revealing titles such as De Reus Van Rotterdam, Oranje Spinazie, Bermuda Driehoek and Varkensvlees. The song that is the best in our opinion has the strange title Nooit Meer Iemand Wim. In this, singer Wim Kerkhof is concerned about the fact that fewer and fewer boys are getting the name 'Wim', while that name used to be in the Namur Top Ten. By the way, I don't know whether the album title should refer to the band itself (it takes forever), but with this album the Amazing Stroopwafels prove that they can last for a few more years.
