DJ Dana is registered at the registry office of her residence in Amsterdam as Dana van Dreven. Born in 1974, she started DJing when she had a friend who played raves. Her stage name became Lady Dana and she soon became one of the most popular female DJs in the Netherlands. Initially this small, slender blonde was active in very extreme techno movements such as gabber, hardcore and terror, but nowadays
… she mainly plays 'hardstyle', a movement within dance that is very popular in 2002. The difference between hardcore and hardstyle is not that big by the way; the latter is slightly less extreme, more melodic, more accessible and therefore appeals to a wider audience. Her style is somewhat similar to that of DJ Tiësto, but with much heavier pounding basses. Her enormous popularity is evident from the fact that she performs as often a month as the same Tiësto, Ferry Corsten or Marco V. This has made her the most popular hardstyle DJ in the Netherlands. Finally, in the summer of 2002 she played at important dance festivals such as Mystery Land and Sensation. It is therefore no exaggeration to declare the mix CD ID&T Presents: DJ Dana one of the most important house records of 2002. (MvP)more
