Gordon is the only Dutch-speaking singer to connect with the wildly popular black R&B music, which dominated the charts in the nineties. That is less strange than it seems. After all, Gordon has a flexible singing voice and a phenomenal singing technique, an important condition for the R&B based on strong vocals. He had previously explored this musical area with Tjeerd Oosterhuis, who had
… already proven to be able to handle the genre with Total Touch. The collaboration with Ellert Driessen (ex-Spargo) was even better if possible. The single with the Dutch-speaking r & b group Re-play (Never Nooit Meer, 1999) turned out to be a bull's eye, followed by one more single (Weet Dat Ik Van Je Hou, 2001), the proceeds of which went to the Cliniclowns. Now finally there is a complete album by Gordon and Re-play, which contains nine beautiful new listening songs in addition to the two aforementioned singles. A remarkable contribution comes from rapper Extince, who unconcealed advertising his own new album on Een Nieuw Begin. (MS)more
