The first two albums of the Flemish rap trio 't Hof van Commerce did little in the Netherlands. This was not really surprising, as all raps were performed in the very spicy dialect of Izegem. In their own country, the debut album En In Izegem (1998) was particularly well received. After the disappointing success of successor Herman (1999), the band members decided to quit for the time being and to
… focus on solo projects. Flip Kowlier made the beautiful, modest singer / songwriter CD Ocharme Ik (2001), which did get the necessary attention in the Netherlands. After a period of almost three years, the gentlemen met again and it was decided that it was time for a third CD by 't Hof van Commerce. The result is called Rocky 7 and is by no means disappointing. It is a 'fat' sounding album that can compete with many American 'hardcore' rap records in terms of production. The two rappers Vendor (Flip Kowlier) and Buyse both have excellent technique and the anger and aggression in their voices is genuine. In addition, the samples and scratches of DJ 4T4 are very original: sometimes jazzy, sometimes punky and in Punk Of Yo! even the theme of Battlestar Galactica. Of course, the lyrics remain unintelligible to a Dutchman, but at 't Hof van Commerce you get the idea that the West Flemish dialect is much better suited for rap than Dutch. (MvP) then punky again and in Punk Of Yo! even the theme of Battlestar Galactica.
