You don't often come across bands in which all band members have a good singing voice and also play several instruments. The Dutch Soundsurfer is therefore not just a hobby band. The four band members all followed a solid music education, either at the conservatory or at the Tilburg rock academy. This school-like background is also reflected in the music, in which influences from all styles from
… pop history can be found. From the rock and roll riffs in Uptight, the close harmony in Got It All, the Rhodes piano in This For The One and the alternative rock guitar in Haywire: it has all found a place in the traditional band sound. The music on this debut CD can best be described as an expertly crafted radio pop with an alternative rock edge, as we heard from ao Zwolle 16 Down. Due to the strong hand of songwriting and the convincing vocals of Hendrik Jan Bökker, we can safely speak of an asset to Dutch pop music. (MS)more
