Bob Sinclar borrowed his name from Jean-Paul Belmondo, who played a French secret agent with many alter egos in Le Magnifique. In daily life his name is Christophe Le Friant and he also uses an extensive range of aliases. As Chris The French Kiss he is a DJ and also head of the important French label Yellow Productions. As The Mighty Bop he ventures into hip-hop territory and as RĂ©miniscence Quartet
… he plunges into acid jazz. The name Bob Sinclar is reserved for his house projects. His first CD Paradise was released in 1998 and contained Gym Tonic, a song based on an aerobic workout by Jane Fonda, which promised to be a big hit in Ibiza that summer, until Jane Fonda's lawyer stepped in. On III Bob Sinclar still keeps the disco in his house, but adds electro loops to that. He also copied a lot from his great example Cerrone. The corniness that is inextricably linked to disco is only reinforced by the electro influences. Moreover, the texts are of such a low level that only a French speaking poorly English can make them up. Maybe Bob Sinclar should put a little more time into his other names. (AD)more
