French singer Alizée was only sixteen when her single Moi ... Lolita reached the number 1 position in almost all of Europe. Although Alizée achieved little further success in the Netherlands, her debut album Gourmandises (2001) sold four million copies and became a real superstar in France. The success formula of the first CD is applied once again to its successor Mes Courantes Electriques ...
(2003). Mylène Farmer wrote all the lyrics and together with Laurent Boutonnant she also produced the entire album. The main difference with Gourmandises is that there are also some English songs on Mes Courantes. Perhaps this is to be able to break through internationally, but given the success in the past of the French-speaking Moi ... Lolita, this is not necessary.
