Some artists take a long time to produce a CD. In the case of Kraftwerk, this took so long that no one was counting on it anymore. In 1983, Florian Schneider and Ralf Hütter, whose influence on every form of electronics in music has proved invaluable, released the single Tour De France as a taster of a forthcoming CD. It took no less than twenty years before this CD saw the light of day. The
… foretaste of the past has now been fully adapted to the time and has even been extended to a version of more than twenty minutes. For those who missed the original, this can be found at the very end of the CD. The songs in between are also all about cyclists and their accessories and are provided by Kraftwerk with their characteristic vocals recorded by means of a vocoder. Tour De France may not be their most groundbreaking CD, but if you have already achieved so much in the music world, you don't have to. (AD)more
