Four not very cheerful men - three of them with beards - look at you in the booklet of the CD No Balance Palace by the Danish group Kashmir. However, they do have reason to laugh: they managed to entice the American super producer Tony Visconti for the production. Probably from his address book came the guest contributions of the two greats David Bowie and Lou Reed. Not bad for a group that is very
… famous in its own country, but has not yet managed to break through outside. The gloomy looks of the four fit well with the music of No Balance Palace. Unlike its predecessor Zitilites (2003), it is an often dark CD, with solid rocking songs with little room for an airy element. The themes of the album are therefore heavy: love, death and the decline of Western civilization. The long drawn-out songs often sound like typical alternative rock and sometimes make a somewhat flat impression. But whoever allows No Balance Palace some time will certainly discover more. This is called a growth plate. (IV)more
