The sound of the British trio Kosheen is constantly changing. In 2000 they scored the drum'n'bass hit Hide U, but soon saw it with this limited genre. With Kokopelli they said goodbye to dance temporarily to throw themselves into guitar rock with electronics. This also got boring, because the guitar sound was largely taken over by the electronics. Producers Markee Substance and Darren Decoder immersed
… themselves in ominous electro for Damage, as was done around the eighties by Gary Numan and now by Goldfrapp. It shouldn't be fun living in Bristol, because like their fellow townspeople Portishead, Kosheen also makes quite sombre music with little hope for a bright future. Unfortunately they did not manage to keep the CD exciting across the board. After the first half with the outliers Overkill and Guilty, the cake is over and Kosheen ripples on listlessly. (AD)more
