Although Korn is generally seen as the inventor of nu-metal, in recent years she seemed to have been overtaken by a new generation of bands. As evidenced by their 2002 album Untouchables, the band from California did not care much about this because the sound appeared to have changed little or nothing. Also on Take A Look In The Mirror really everything on this album was invented by Korn himself:
the deep guitar parts, strange loops, the rattling slap-bass and last but not least the recognizable vocals of Jonathan Davis. Is it also a good album? The answer is a resounding 'yes'! Korn has taken a step back in terms of speed and brutal guitar violence and built in some more tranquility, but this works out particularly well, as witnessed by beautiful songs like Did My Time and the dark Alive. Take A Look In The Mirror is a typical Korn record and (logically) a good one! Back from never been away. (RWK)more
