The Irish guitar pop band The Thrills immediately established its name with the debut album So Much For The City (2003), but after the second album Let's Bottle Bohemia (2004) the quintet disappeared just as quickly from the radar. The title Teenager and the striking cover photo (two clumsy teenagers) leave no doubt about the theme of the third album. Singer Conor Deasy looks back with a mixture of
… melancholy and regret on the confusing days of his youth, the time of his first jobs (Restaurant) and romantic love, and the nagging feeling that there must be more in the world (Nothing Changes Around Here) . Musically the line of the first albums is continued. Once again, inspiration is drawn from American folk rock and west coast pop, with Conor's fragile vocals framed by a semi-acoustic sound. A perfect reveling plate for die-hard romantics. (MS)more
