Serj Tankian is busy. He is the record manager of Serjical Strike Records, organizer of the Axis Of Justice concerts and of course singer of System Of A Down. After ten years of constant rehearsing, recording and touring, the System members decided to take a long break. Serj has long wanted to record a solo album. Elect The Dead is the result and after listening to it, it is hard to imagine that
… Serj said he recorded this album in two months. He played all the instruments himself, except for the drums. That was a painstaking job, because just like on the albums he recorded with System Of A Down, a lot happens on Elect The Dead. Influences from the most diverse music are alternated at breakneck speed, although Feed Us and Saving Us for Serj's do sound fairly subdued. Tankian's critical lyrics are politically charged as ever. He says he has already built up an archive of about 500 songs. So it seems that Elect The Dead is definitely not his last album. In addition to the regular album, this limited version of Elect The Dead also features a bonus CD with four extra songs. The two CDs are accompanied by a hardcover booklet with beautiful illustrations by Sako Shahinian. (PdK)more
