Within a few years, the gothic metal band Within Temptation grew into the Netherlands' largest music export product. The Heart Of Everything is the band's fourth album and the formula doesn't seem worn out yet. The motto 'less is more' clearly does not apply to Within Temptation, which tries to impress the listener in every possible way. From the first beat, all registers open and the guitar walls,
… angel choirs and orchestras are flying around your ears. The secret of Within Tempation lies in the catchy vocal lines that each settle in the audience. Add to that an un-Dutch sense of drama, theater and Biblical rhetoric ('Sanctus espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour!') And you have a golden formula in your hands. That singer Sharon den Adel is assisted on a song by Keith Caputo (ex-Life Of Agony) is probably a childhood dream of the band members, it will make little difference for the sale. After all, Within Temptation has long since surpassed that band in popularity. This 'special edition' version of The Heart Of Everything features a number of bonus tracks (including acoustic versions) and a bonus DVD. The DVD features a concert in Tokyo and video clips.
