With an instrumentation consisting of drums, bass, Fender Rhodes, vibraphone, (recorder) flute, piano, guitar, percussion, toys and vocal cords, Mocky can rightly call himself a multi-instrumentalist. Born in Canada as Dominic Giancarlo Salole, he moved to London and Amsterdam and now lives in Berlin. Until recently he specialized in electro / hip hop / soul and wrote arrangements for Jamie Lidell,
… Feist, Gonzales and Jane Birkin, among others. The first three helped him on Saskamode with which Mocky says goodbye to the electronic music scene and devotes himself completely to organic music. Saskamode is very similar to bossa nova, except that it lacks catchy rhythm. Instead, Mocky looks for more in rhythms from soul and jazz, but tango is not spared either. The bossa vibes are maintained by a general feeling of summer sweltering and sweltering beach vibes. The kind of music where you want to stay in a hammock forever. (AD)more
