The first decade of this century will be credited in the annals of Dutch pop as the comeback of Volendam as a hit supplier. In the wake of Jan Smit, his fellow villagers Nick & Simon and the 3JS became extremely popular, while the memory of their predecessors was kept alive by the Tribute To The Cats Band. Although there is a certain relationship between the aforementioned artists, there are
… also differences. The 3JS have the school singing style in common with Smit, but sound more robust and contemporary than their fellow villagers. They actually have the most in common with their colleagues from Zeeland, Bløf. Lyrically, however, Jan Dulles says more like it is, without allowing himself too many poetic freedoms. By alternating their well-kept pop rock with trips to folk (Drinking song) and reggae (Green Yellow Red), uniformity is avoided. (MS)more
