In their own Norway this album was released in 2008, but due to their energetic performances Katzenjammer also managed to convince more and more people outside their home country. And so their debut album Le Pop is also released in the Netherlands with a year delay. The four ladies in the group play folk music (especially Scandinavian and Balkan), but do so with the energy of a rock band. It is
… hoped that the quartet will also have some solid roadies on hand for their gigs, as they will take the impressive number of sixteen instruments onto the stage. Underneath a pedal organ, accordion, balalaika, mandolin and trumpet. After each song the ladies change instruments so that enough happens in any case. Also on this CD it is a cheerful bunch, with especially the title track and A Bar In Amsterdam sticking out above the ground level of the other compositions. Katzenjammer is the nicest 'hoempapa-girlgroup' of this year. (PdK)more
