When there is a depression over England, you can assume that it will rain in our country two days later. This also applies to our music climate: if soul hot on the other side (see Amy Winehouse and Duffy), then you can say that two years later Dutch singers will also venture into this. Anouk's For Bitter Or Worse already sounded remarkably soulful and now Dennis is also taking off with that sound.
Sometimes that works out well, such as in Mirror Mirror, the uptempo You Are My Baby and the reggae song Catch Ya. Dennis recorded a number of songs in Miami with producer Salaam Remi. Afterwards, they visited a strip club together. That adventure produced another song: Throw Your Money On The Floor. So Dennis has grown up. Her bracket has disappeared and the musical beacons have changed. The result is pleasant, but Dennis unfortunately still loses out to her competitors, who blow over from the other side of the lake.
