Thanks to her voice, with which she drips honey into your ears, Beate Lech slowly but surely manages to please more and more listeners. At Welding Bridge is the fifth album by the Norwegian singer. In her own words, she opts for a fusion of the styles of her previous albums on this CD. The music leans more towards her early albums. In other words, somewhat hypothermic bedroom jazz. Beate's band
… members are fully committed to her voice. And the songs, because improvisation is a long way off on this album. The trio plays songs with head and tail, which they say are inspired by the simplicity of country songs. That country element is not too bad: on a slide guitar here and there there is little country to be heard on At Welding Bridge. That slide guitar does give a nice melancholic undertone to the music. You can leave that to those Norwegians. At Welding Bridge is a relaxing picture for the shortest days. Fire up the fireplace and let the winter storm roar outside. (PdK)more
