To record this album, Ian Siegal traveled to the South of America in the heart of the blues, Mississippi. The recording took place at the Dickinson family's Zebra Ranch Studio with son Cody Dickinson (of North Mississippi All Stars fame) as drummer and producer. The rest of The Youngest Sons, the band for this record, consists of the youngest sons of local blues heroes such as RL Burnside's son
… Garry and Bobby Bland's son Rodd. The influences of Muddy Waters and Howlin 'Wolf are, as we are used to from Siegal, clearly present. But yes, what do you want with such a voice. The record certainly has its moments and especially towards the end it gets better and more lively. Unfortunately this album cannot match the previous two albums that have been played gray by the undersigned. The chemistry with the band is lacking and recording in Mississippi with the brood of famous musicians certainly does not guarantee a great piece of music. Fortunately, Siegal still has a lot of music to make. In any case, we are looking forward to the record that Siegal will release later in 2011 with guitarist Matt Schofield. Recorded without fuss in Europe, where the blues can also thrive. (SI)more
