The idea behind the In A Cabin With series may be clear by now. Dutch musicians are sent out to collaborate with local colleagues somewhere in the world. After Kyteman, Maurtis Westerik (GEM) and two members of Bettie Serveert, it was the turn of Marien Dorleijn (Moss) and David Pino (El Pino & The Volunteers) in early 2011. These two guys from the Excelsior label spent eleven days in a Canadian
… cabin, assisted by a local rhythm section. Although In A Cabin With records are by no means always surprising, the majority of them can be called particularly successful. This kite is also now on again. Tika, with eleven days of making music, is nothing more than an occasional project, sounds robust and exciting. The guitar pop on offer is quite an extension of Moss and therefore does not seem as 'heavily influenced by the environment and the location where the recordings took place' as the press release would have us believe. Well, it's just some background information that doesn't matter when you play this strong CD. And that is the best side of Tika. The band makes you forget what kind of project this CD is a result of.
