The American Girls is following a clear course. With Album (2009) the band made a strong impact, followed by the long EP Broken Dream Club (2010) and in September 2011 there is Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Three CDs in three years with the same white artwork three times. 'Record 3' is now in the place where 'Album' was first. The band likes to kick open the door, also musically. The eleven songs are a
… succession of clichés from the history of rock & roll. The melodies and chord progressions that you have heard a hundred times before, get an even clearer link with the past through the use of seventies organs and rattling beat guitars. Still, Father, Son, Holy Ghost is a good record. The eleven songs are not original, but combine so many different classical themes that a varied whole is created. Whenever you think that Girls is guilty of shameless stealing, the band takes a different path. Not a road that has never been traveled before, but a road that you did not know could be reached from the previous point. (JE)more
