The American / Dutch singer and songwriter Signe Tollefsen already stood out among the countless Dutch singer / songwriters in 2009 with her unnamed debut album, a lived-in folk and blues record on which Karen Dalton and PJ Harvey resound. On the snack Baggage (2010) she then effortlessly put songs by Michael Jackson and Portishead to her will. At Hayes she now presents herself as a mature and
… sensual woman who sings about love and longing for this with a sultry voice. In addition, the drink (a recurring subject in her entire early oeuvre) is never far away. She produced the album together with Ralph Timmermans and the duo also took care of most of the instruments themselves. With many echoing guitars and deep drums they create a soundtrack for an imaginary film noir, a dark and brooding sound that does not always want to sound exciting, but with which the singer has found her own sound that suits her well.
