Todd Terje has been one of the most prominent figures in the Scandinavian dance scene for ten years with the release of It's Album Time (2014). The Norwegian producer stood out from the start for his versatile taste. Terje is interested in dub, disco, synthipop, house and techno and became known with remixes by The Bee Gees, Michael Jackson and Santana. On Remaster Of The Universe (2010) a large
… number of these remixes were mixed together in a continuous DJ set. It's Album Time is his highly anticipated debut CD. Terje's biggest mistake is that he wants to show how versatile he is and how much weirdness he can add to his music. That is why it takes until the fifth song (Strandbar) before It's Album Time finally starts, but then it actually goes completely loose. His disco work is very reminiscent of that of Alexander Robotnick and Giorgio Moroder in his heyday. This is followed by a cover of Robert Palmer's Johnny And Mary, sung by Bryan Ferry. Then make it difficult again, to end in a festive way with the very cheerful Inspector Norse. It's Album Time proves that Terje can become very big, provided he is not too difficult. (AD)more
