Guus Meeuwis celebrates his 20th year as an artist at the top of Nederpop. Few critics believed that the law student would be here to stay after his first hits. So it turned out differently. Just like Jan Smit, Guus Meeuwis is mainly a very normal guy who writes normal songs about very normal subjects. This appeals to many Dutch people and it made the Tilburg singer a popular hero in Brabant and a
… beloved artist outside. In addition to the success, Meeuwis also seems to be inspiring. For this album, Meeuwis asked six musician friends to co-write. Whether he wrote with Jack Poels, Frank Boeijen, Douwe Bob, Paskal Jakobsen (Bløf), Nielson or Alain Clark, the songs all came out smoothly, according to Guus. As on his earlier CDs, Meeuwis alternates ballads with more up-tempo material. Most notable song is the reggae song Wij zijn Wij on which Henny Vrienten plays bass guitar. (PdK)more
