'This album actually came about by itself. I skewed most of the songs with Jim and then I recorded them with Jeff when we both had the time. ' Bryan Adams is not a man of bloated publicity stunts. He wrote the songs for his 13th album Get Up with Jim Vallance, the Canadian with whom he wrote his greatest hits. Then he recorded them with producer Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra). … in the CD booklet, 55-year-old Adams still looks remarkably vital. With his baggy hoodie and shaven head, he can easily pass for a twenties. Musically Adams also still sounds fresh. Of course he still has that sandpaper throat with which he sings ballads just as easily as Stones-like rockers. Jeff Lynne makes an audible mark on the Beatles-like Don't Even Try. It is immediately one of the most interesting songs on this no-nonsense record with which Adams does not disappoint his old fans. (PdK)more
