After three successful albums in the 1980s, Don Henley slowed down as a solo artist. The well-known drummer and singer was especially busy with his old band The Eagles. 2000's Inside Job was his first solo album in 11 years and its successor Cass County took even longer. It took no less than 15 years for the American to travel to Nashville to record a stack of songs with friends. Many guests include
… Dolly Parton, Lucinda Williams and Mick Jagger. They take the characteristic country rock of Nashville as a starting point. This means that the songs are recorded as clearly as possible and immediately sound familiar. Henley doesn't have to take that much risk in his old age either. When he leaves the country, he sounds like the pop singer from a few decades earlier. Take A Picture Of This would have easily hit the charts in the 1980s. Another outlier is Praying For Rain, which features the environmentalist in Henley. (JE)more
