… the double CD Acoustic Recordings. White was a good songwriter in his early days. During the chronologically composed CDs, his music starts to sound more beautifully produced. Yet a song like the Beatleske We're Gonna Be Friends does (2001) especially yearn for more of The White Stripes. What an unparalleled duo with a sound that is as raw as it is catchy Meg and Jack White were after all. Something that Jack White, in all his skill, never managed to match again.
