We can safely call Kate Tempest a multi-talent. The British woman is a spoken word artist, rapper and writer of novels and plays. You could also say that she knows how to exploit her greatest talent in several ways. Because actually she always tells a story. And that story can take several forms. The common thread on her debut album (2014) was also the basis of her debut novel The Bricks That Built
… the Houses (2016). Her second album Let Them Eat Chaos does not stand alone either. Many of the topics she covers in her previous work are repeated. The anonymous life in a modern Western city is the greatest source of inspiration. The characters in the songs of Let Them Eat Chaos live on the same street, but live completely apart from each other. The long pieces of text are accompanied by pleasant electropop and hip-hop beats. Together with her fine voice, the music ensures that this album also sounds good for those who don't follow the story. (JE)more
