In 1994, Primal Scream was at a dead end. Three years earlier the group had broken through to a wide audience with , but the band was reluctant to follow up. The group then decided to leave for Memphis. In the South of the US, the group recorded an album with producer Tom Dowd, a veteran who previously worked with and . … England, their label boss was not satisfied with the result: Dowd's production sounded too old-fashioned. Primal Scream then re-recorded the songs, resulting in the album . 25 years after the release of that album, Primal Scream decides to rerelease the original Memphis sessions.
