Ty Segall doesn't know how to stop. In 2018 he released two albums (including a cover album) and less than a year later he releases his fourteenth album. This is certainly not the first flavor you can taste from this versatile musician, but compared to previous work Segall shows a different palette of flavors. On this album he temporarily hid his guitar and only used keyboard, percussion and a number
… of string instruments such as the bouzouki (Greek string instrument) and koto (Japanese zither). Despite this guitar-less approach, garage rock and punk influences still resonate in his noisy and slightly psychedelic music. Segall does sound remarkably conceived and less fragmentary for his actions. Nevertheless, First Taste offers a musical taste explosion such as only Ty Segall can bring. (JvQ)more
